名詞子句是什麼？
名詞子句是一種依附子句，本身不能獨立存在，僅依附於主要子句中。其實可以把名詞子句想成是一個較長的詞組，但性質一樣是名詞喔！
名詞子句有什麼功能？
可作句子的主詞、受詞、補語與同位語。
名詞子句當受詞時，that 可省略
例句：The teacher says [ that practice makes perfect. ]
老師說：「熟能生巧」。
解析句子時要先找出句子的動詞、主詞、受詞。
- 主詞 S.：teacher
- 動詞 V.：say
老師說的是：「熟能生巧」這件事，因此 [ that practice makes perfect. ] 做受詞。
- 受詞 O.：[ that practice makes perfect. ]
這時你可以發現，這個句子的結構是最基本的 S.+ V.+ O.，而 [ that practice makes perfect. ] 是名詞子句，在句子中做受詞使用。
因此，這句的 that 可以省略。
變成：The teacher says practice makes perfect.
名詞子句當主詞，that 不可省略
例句：[ That the earth is round ] is true.
地球是圓的是真的。
- 主詞 S.：That the earth is round（that 在此做從屬連接詞）
- 動詞 V.：is
- 補語 C. : true
前面說過，可以把名詞子句想成一個較長的詞組，但性質仍是名詞。
在這個句子中，[ That the earth is round ] 是名詞子句做主詞使用。
英文避諱頭重腳輕，因此也可以將這句改為更簡潔的寫法：
例句：It is true [ that the earth is round. ]
It 在此做虛主詞，代替真主詞：[ that the earth is round. ]
