輝達（NVIDIA）台灣總部的設置地點引發關注，最新消息指出，總部將落腳台北北士科 T17、T18 總面積達 5 公頃的地點。此地交通便利、電力供應無虞，且滿足執行長黃仁勳所提，員工希望在台北市上班的期待。外界預估，輝達執行長黃仁勳將於 5 月 21 日記者會宣布最終選址結果。若此案成真，將成為輝達深耕台灣的重要里程碑。
NVIDIA Taiwan Headquarters Rumored to Settle in Beitou Shilin Technology Park
The location of NVIDIA’s Taiwan headquarters has gained attention. Recent news suggests it will be in Taipei’s Beitou Shilin Technology Park T17, T18, covering 5 hectares. The site has good transportation, stable power supply, and meets CEO Jensen Huang’s goal for employees to work in Taipei. It is expected that Jensen Huang will announce the final location at a press conference on May 21st. If true, this will be an important milestone for NVIDIA to grow its presence in Taiwan.
第二則：南非擅改台灣駐處名稱與地址
南非政府自2024年10月起兩度要求台灣駐處遷離首都。然而在雙方持續協商之際，南非外交部卻在3月將台灣駐處名稱改為「台北商務辦事處」，並將地址從首都普利托利亞改為約翰尼斯堡。
在南非外交部官網上，台灣甚至被降格，歸類為「國際組織」。對此，外交部長林佳龍表示此事件背後極可能有中國影響，已向南非表達應就此事展開協商。若有任何進展，將適時對外說明。
South Africa Changes Taiwan Representative Office's Name and Address
Since October 2024, the South African government has twice asked Taiwan’s representative office to move out of the capital. However, while both sides are still discussing the issue, South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) changed the office’s name to “Taipei Trade Office” in March and moved the address from the capital Pretoria to Johannesburg.
On South African DIRCO official websites, Taiwan was also downgraded and listed under “International Organizations.” Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung said that this incident is highly likely influenced by China. Taiwan has asked South Africa to discuss the matter. Any updates will be shared when available.
第三則：蔡英文訪英 向英國國會致謝
前總統蔡英文在台英國會小組的邀請下，於5月16日在英國國會發表演說，感謝英國國會於2024年底通過聯合國2758號決議不涉及台灣，並為台參與國際組織的權利發聲。
蔡英文表示，英國國會的行動展現了勇氣，並肯定這對反制中國對台冒進行為至關重要。蔡前總統也呼籲雙方深化合作，共同維護區域和平與民主價值。
Tsai Ing-wen Visits the UK to Thank the British Parliament
Former President Tsai Ing-wen, invited by the British-Taiwanese Parliamentary Group, gave a speech at the UK Parliament on May 16. She thanked the UK Parliament for passing a resolution at the end of 2024, stating that the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 does not apply to Taiwan. She also appreciated their support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.
Tsai said the UK Parliament’s actions showed great courage and are important for countering China’s aggressive moves toward Taiwan. She also called for stronger cooperation to protect regional peace and democratic values.
第四則：環球晶加碼投資美國40億美元 擴大德州廠
環球晶美國德州謝爾曼市新廠GWA於5月16日開幕，董事長徐秀蘭宣布，將加碼投資40億美元。她表示，此決定是基於關稅結構，以及美國客戶對矽晶圓就地供貨的需求，環球晶將往在地製造的方向發展。
她表示，這是個積極、大膽的計劃，但也是根據客戶需求及美國有利製造環境而做出的商業決定，並沒有與美國政府談定特別補助。德州廠的能源供應也比亞洲廠區更有競爭力，未來也可供應給美國以外的國家。
GlobalWafers Invests $4 Billion More in the U.S. to Expand Texas Plant
GlobalWafers’ new plant GWA in Sherman, Texas, opened on May 16. Chairperson Hsu Hsiu-lan announced an extra $4 billion investment. She stated that given the tariff structures and the demand from U.S. customers for local supply of silicon wafers, GlobalWafers will focus on developing local production.
She added that this is a bold and active plan, but it is based on customer needs and the good manufacturing conditions in the U.S., not because of any special subsidies from the U.S. government. The Texas plant also has cheaper energy compared to Asia. In the future, it can supply countries outside the United States as well.

This brand has strong connections to Taiwan as it was created by Taiwanese founder YiYing Wang. She added Taiwanese noodle and rice culture into the designs, creating the unique “Ricetown Universe.”
