The Taiwan People’s Party cites NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s statement that “Taiwan must invest in nuclear energy; the use of energy should not be stigmatized.” to highlight the need for investment in nuclear energy to meet the growing electricity demand.
The party plans to hold a referendum on August 23 to decide on the extension of the nuclear power plant’s operation. They hope to empower the public to determine future energy policies. Huang Kuo-chang emphasized that stable energy supply is crucial for industrial growth and public electricity needs, pointing out that recent temporary operations of power plants after shutdown indicate the urgency of current energy policies.

Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Li-luan Confirms Election Schedule
Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Li-luan announced that the schedule for the party’s leadership election will be announced in July, with the election taking place in September and the handover completed in October. During his tenure, he faced challenges including over NT$100 million in debt, election pressures, and the mass electoral recall campaigns, promising to fight until the very last moment.
Notably, Zhu has a close relationship with Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen and hopes she will lead the party to further success after taking over. He also expressed a desire for unity within the party to avoid internal conflicts and to collectively face future challenges.
