On May 29, a bank employee, Mr. Yin, from the Taiwan Cooperative Bank’s National Taiwan University branch received NT$3.87 million in cash at NTU Hospital. He carelessly left the travel bag outside the food court office, where it was picked up by a man in black clothing.
Police investigations revealed that the man deliberately created distractions while escaping, suggesting that the theft was intentional. Meanwhile, the employee’s actions have raised questions. As cash collection procedures should involve two people, the experienced employee nearing retirement acted alone and carelessly left such a large sum of money unattended.
