TSMC Ships First Chips from the USA to Taiwan

TSMC’s plant in Arizona has finished making its first chips. A total of 20,000 chips were produced. These chips are for companies like Apple, Nvidia, and AMD. However, the chips will be sent back to Taiwan for final packaging, because Taiwan still has the most advanced packaging technology.

To improve the local supply chain in the U.S., TSMC plans to build a packaging factory there. Mass production is expected to begin in 2026, which will help shorten the production process in the future.

Microsoft Plans to Lay Off Thousands Again After Cutting 6,000 Jobs Last Month

Microsoft is planning to lay off thousands of employees in its sales department in early July. This move follows the company’s previous round of job cuts, which saw 6,000 positions eliminated last month. The latest layoffs are part of Microsoft’s response to increased spending in the field of artificial intelligence.

The company stated that it will continue to regularly evaluate its organizational structure. As part of its strategy to improve efficiency, Microsoft also plans to outsource some sales work for small and medium-sized customers. The goal is to ensure more effective resource allocation and support future growth.

AIT Urges Public to Prepare Emergency Kits for Unexpected Needs

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Kaohsiung Branch Office recently announced that Taiwanese citizens and U.S. residing in Taiwan should prepare emergency kits. These kits should include drinking water, food, medical supplies, warm clothing, and mobile phone chargers.

The U.S. Department of State emphasized that Taiwan is located in a disaster-prone area. It supports enhancing the resilience of society to respond to potential natural disasters or political unrest.

Rise of Side Jobs Among Gen Z: Will It Impact Companies?

According to a survey by software company Intuit, over 60% of Gen Z respondents have or plan to pursue side jobs. This reflects their desire for self-fulfillment and diverse income sources. Unlike previous generations that valued stable careers, today’s youth are more eager to start businesses and follow their passions.

However, side jobs may affect performance in primary jobs, leading to time constraints and health issues. Companies should offer competitive salaries and support, as well as design fulfilling work tasks to reduce employees’ reliance on side jobs.

Global Travel Safety Index Revealed: Philippines Ranked as the Most Dangerous

According to a survey by HelloSafe, Iceland is ranked as the safest travel destination in the world for 2025, followed by Singapore, the only Asian country to make it into the top ten. In contrast, the Philippines has been identified as the most dangerous travel destination. Taiwan, often regarded for its good safety and advanced medical facilities, was not included in the rankings due to insufficient statistical data.

This assessment is based on 35 indicators, including natural disasters, social violence, and healthcare infrastructure. HelloSafe emphasizes that this ranking does not reflect the cultural values or travel appeal of each country.

Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.
