高雄三元能源科技公司於7月14日發生爆炸並起火，造成16人受傷，其中包括12名員工與4名消防人員。
事故現場為台灣首座超級電池廠，年產能達180萬瓩，主要生產高階鎳三元鋰電池。由於起火釋出大量濃煙與氫氟酸，高雄市政府已針對小港區發布空汙警報，呼籲民眾緊閉門窗、減少外出，以維護自身安全。
Kaohsiung Battery Factory Fire Sends 16 to Hospital
On July 14, an explosion and fire occurred at Kaohsiung Molie Quantum Energy Corporation, injuring 16 people, including 12 employees and 4 firefighters.
The site is Taiwan’s first super battery factory, with an annual capacity of 1.8 GW. It mainly produces high-level nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium batteries. The fire released thick smoke and hydrogen fluoride gas. The Kaohsiung city government issued an air pollution alert for the Xiaogang district and advised residents to keep windows closed and reduce outdoor activities to stay safe.

Opposition parties criticize the Executive Yuan, saying it must follow the law to allocate the budget. They worry that without the budget, the government cannot handle the impact of US tariffs. They also say this move violates democratic principles and may harm economic stability.

EU Holds Off Retaliatory Tariffs on U.S. Following Trump’s 30% Tariff Plan
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that starting August 1, 2025, a 30% tariff will be imposed on imports from the European Union and Mexico, escalating trade tensions.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU will delay retaliatory measures, hoping to reach an agreement with the U.S. before August 1. She emphasized that disputes should be resolved through negotiation. However, if talks fail, the EU will take countermeasures to protect its interests. Analysts estimate that third-quarter revenue will grow by 5% quarter-on-quarter and 30% year-on-year, reflecting continued strong demand. 美國《Eat This, Not That!》公布全球12款最不健康飲料，AriZona人參蜂蜜綠茶糖量超標奪冠，一瓶就含每日建議糖量的2至3倍。其他上榜飲品也包括台灣常見的百事可樂、星巴克瓶裝星冰樂與Monster能量飲。專家提醒，過量攝取恐影響心血管與代謝健康。
國健署建議，夏天消暑應以白開水為主，選購飲品時注意糖量標示，也可補充低脂乳品，取代高糖飲料，遠離「糖炸彈」。
Top Unhealthy Drinks List Released, Health Agency Issues Warning
The American site Eat This, Not That! released a list of the 12 most unhealthy drinks worldwide. Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng & Honey took first place for having 2 to 3 times the daily recommended sugar amount in one bottle. Other drinks on the list also include popular choices in Taiwan like Pepsi, Starbucks bottled Frappuccino, and Monster energy drinks. Experts warn that too much sugar can harm heart and metabolism health.
Taiwan’s Health Promotion Administration advises people to drink mostly plain water during summer. When buying drinks, pay attention to sugar labels. They also suggest drinking low-fat milk instead of sugary drinks to avoid “sugar bombs” and stay healthy and refreshed.
