Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan has passed revisions to the “Resilience Special Act,” deciding that cash handouts will start within one month after the special budget is announced and be completed within seven months.
Finance ministry officials explained that the extra NT$1 billion in the budget is due to population growth rather than administrative costs. Lawmakers also approved several revisions and additional resolutions, including more support for disadvantaged groups and industries, and agreed to hold an extra session to handle pending bills.

On August 27, Taiwan’s Executive Yuan announced a cabinet reshuffle involving 16 ministerial changes, covering key posts such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Digital Affairs. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Lee Yang was appointed as the first minister of the newly established Ministry of Sports, while Shih Chung-liang was promoted to head the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

台灣高鐵公司宣布，將自11月10日起取消「提前乘車彈性機制」，以配合即將上路的「超尖峰時刻指定車次自由座」政策。過去對號座旅客可持票提前搭乘自由座，但此措施將不再適用。

HSR to End Early Boarding Flexibility, Passengers Must Follow Ticketed Trains from November
Taiwan High Speed Rail announced that starting November 10, it will cancel the “early boarding flexibility” policy, in line with the upcoming “super-peak designated train free seating” measure. In the past, reserved seat passengers could use their tickets to board an earlier train’s free seats, but this option will no longer be available.
The company explained that the flexibility system caused wasted seats and affected travel quality for other passengers. Under the new rule, travelers must board only their ticketed train, and those who wish to enter earlier will be required to change their tickets in advance.
