第一則：Google示警駭客寄勒索信 竊取企業敏感資料
美國科技巨頭Google在10月3日表示，駭客近期向多名企業高層發送勒索電郵，聲稱已從甲骨文的商業系統竊取敏感資料。Google指出，這波攻擊規模龐大，但尚無足夠證據證實其真實性。
資安公司Halcyon指出，勒索金額可能高達5,000萬美元，且駭客疑與知名勒索軟體集團cl0p有關。甲骨文公司目前尚未回應。
Google Warns Hackers Send Ransom Emails, Steal Sensitive Business Data
U.S. technical giant Google said on October 3 that hackers recently sent ransom emails to several business executives, claiming they had stolen sensitive data from Oracle’s business system. Google said the scale of this attack is very large, but there is not enough evidence to prove the claim is true.
Cybersecurity company Halcyon said the ransom amount could be as high as 50 million U.S. dollars, and the hackers may be linked to the well-known ransomware group cl0p. Oracle has not yet responded.

日本讀賣新聞10月3日報導，日本海上保安廳與台灣海巡署正推動聯合訓練常態化。雙方繼去年7月於千葉縣演習後，今年6月在沖繩先島群島外海再度進行聯合救援訓練，由日本大型巡視船瑞穗號與台灣最大巡防艦雲林號參與。
此次雙方進行近距離合作，透過資訊共享與搜尋海域調整，加強實地協作。讀賣指出，因應中國在周邊海域威嚇，此舉展現台日合作進一步升級。
Taiwan and Japan Hold Joint Maritime Drill, Push for Regular Cooperation
Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported on October 3 that the Japan Coast Guard and Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration are pushing to make joint training regular. After an exercise in Chiba in July last year, the two sides held another joint rescue drill in June this year off the coast of Okinawa’s Sakishima Islands, with Japan’s large patrol vessel Mizuho and Taiwan’s largest patrol ship Yunlin taking part.
The two sides worked closely at a short distance, sharing information and adjusting search areas to strengthen field cooperation. Yomiuri said that in response to China’s threats in nearby waters, this move shows that Taiwan-Japan cooperation has further advanced.
第三則：苗栗男子隨機砍人 三人受傷送醫
苗栗市中正路一家超商在10月2日下午3點多發生隨機砍人事件。警方表示，兇嫌邱姓男子曾於2015年在超商持刀刺殺4人，近期才出獄。此次行兇造成1名50歲男子與2名11歲女童受傷送醫，其中一名女童胸部受傷。
女童母親心痛表示，實在難以安心，並擔憂這類案件無法根治。警方隨後前往男子住家圍捕，最終於下午4點35分遭電擊槍壓制逮捕，全案依殺人未遂偵辦。
A Man Randomly Attacks People in Miaoli, Three Injured and Sent to Hospital
A random stabbing incident happened at a convenience store on Zhongzheng Road in Miaoli City in the afternoon of October 2 around 3 p.m. Police said the suspect, a man surnamed Chiu, had stabbed four people in a convenience store in 2015 and was recently released from prison. This attack caused injuries to a 50-year-old man and two 11-year-old girls, who were all sent to the hospital. One of the girls suffered a chest injury.
The girl’s mother said with pain that it is really hard to feel safe, and she worried that such cases cannot be solved completely. Police later went to the man’s home to arrest him. At 4:35 p.m., police used a stun gun to subdue and arrest him. The case is being investigated as attempted murder.

A truly mature manager does not keep showing presence, but shows strength by proper involvement and clear role positioning, which makes the team feel safe.

聯合國和平大使、靈長類學家珍古德博士於美國西岸時間10月1日辭世，享耆壽91歲。她從1960年走進非洲叢林開始研究黑猩猩，改寫人類對動物行為的理解，並創立「根與芽」保育行動，影響全球。
她一生致力於環境保育與青年教育，曾19次造訪台灣，最後一次是今年6月，仍親自勉勵青年「每個人、每一天，都能帶來改變」。各界紛紛表達哀悼，稱她的精神將長存。
Jane Goodall Passes Away at 91, Leaves a Lasting Legacy
United Nations Messenger of Peace and primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall passed away on October 1 in the western United States at the age of 91. She began studying chimpanzees in the African forest in 1960, and her work changed human understanding of animal behavior. She also founded the “Roots and Shoots” program, which has influenced the world.
She devoted her life to environmental protection and youth education, and she visited Taiwan 19 times. Her last visit was in June this year, when she still encouraged young people by saying, “Every person, every day, can make a difference.” People around the world expressed sorrow and said her spirit will live on.
