Staff Still Demanded Leave Slip, EVA Air Sparks Fury

An EVA Air flight attendant passed away after working while ill, sparking public concern over the airline’s scheduling system. Afterward, the company reportedly asked the family to submit proof for a family care leave request, which caused public outrage.

EVA Air said the mistake happened because staff were unfamiliar with procedures. The company pledged to review its process, make improvements, and offered an apology to the family. The incident also led the Legislative Yuan to discuss flight attendants’ working conditions and company management.

Kuiper May Launch in Taiwan? Ministry of Digital Affairs Confirms Talks

Digital Minister Lin Yi-jing said the ministry is discussing cooperation with Amazon’s new low Earth orbit satellite system, Kuiper, hoping it will become another commercial option after OneWeb.

Reports say Far EasTone, whose frequency bands match Kuiper’s, may become its operator in Taiwan. Lin Yi-jing explained that Starlink has not partnered with Taiwan because it refused to follow local rules requiring telecom firms to be majority-owned by Taiwanese nationals.

Trump’s Ultimatum! Hamas Risks New War if Ceasefire Fails

On October 15, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Hamas does not follow the ceasefire agreement, he may allow Israel to restart military actions in the Gaza Strip.

Trump told CNN that Israel accused Hamas of failing to fully follow the agreement, returning only four hostage bodies. His 20-point Gaza peace plan, calls for Hamas to disarm and for Gaza to be demilitarized, saying the U.S. will support Israel if Hamas refuses.

Hustle Culture Rises! Silicon Valley’s New 996 Craze

China’s controversial “996 work culture” has recently gained attention among AI startups in Silicon Valley. Reports say many companies, though without official rules, now follow a culture of working over 70 hours a week.

The trend shows that startups are working longer hours to gain speed and market advantage in the global AI race. However, this intense work style creates a paradox, as companies promote well-being while pushing a high-pressure work culture.

Thermal Imaging Reveals Stress, The “Nasal Dip” as a Key Indicator

Recently, psychologists at the University of Sussex in the UK used facial thermal imaging to study stress. They found that stress changes blood flow in the face, lowering nose temperature by about three to six degrees as the body redirects blood to the eyes and ears.

The study found that changes in nose temperature can be used as a non-invasive way to measure stress and track recovery. Slow recovery may point to risks of anxiety or depression. The same method can also help monitor stress in primates and improve their welfare.

Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.

  • An EVA Air flight attendant’s death after working while sick has raised public concern over the airline’s management and prompted government discussions on crew working conditions.

  • Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs is discussing cooperation with Amazon’s Kuiper satellite, with Far EasTone as a possible local operator, while Starlink opted out over ownership rules.

  • Trump warned that the U.S. may back Israel’s renewed military action if Hamas fails to meet the ceasefire agreement.

  • A growing trend of 70-hour workweeks in Silicon Valley highlights the conflict between speed-driven ambition and workplace balance.

  • Scientists discovered that nose temperature drops under stress, providing a new method to monitor both human and animal well-being.

In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye.
